Sutcliffe Play launches new inclusive ballcourt

Sutcliffe Play - in consultation with Dutch sports specialist Nijha and two special schools in Yorkshire, Highfield Special School and Oakfield Park Special School - has developed a new inclusive ballcourt.

The modular system offers six different games courts and features include wider access points, smaller side courts for small group work and lowered side basketball goals for easy reach from wheelchairs.

Other key points are a soft EDPM wetpour surface; an added kickboard for wheelchair hockey; and a wheelchair race track, painted or thermoplastic graphic onto tarmac next to the court with the option of going right round it.

Visual impairment has also been considered in the design with the addition of contrasting colours in the goal backs.

These are all in addition to Sutcliffe Play's standard ballcourt features including flexible heights, noise reduction and slope adjustment.

The modular construction of the ballcourt means it can be tailored to suit any location.
